Orange County Fair

It's been TWO years since we visited the OC Fair, and it was time to make a comeback. We met up at church the first Saturday in August to caravan over to Orange County.

A group of us tried out the FREE shuttle that was nearby South Coast Plaza Mall. The rest of the group parked on site and headed in. It was a HOT day, about 80 degrees!

Thankfully the ticket lines were short and so were the security lines. It only took us 30 minutes to get inside the fair.

We were excited to be there...but mostly we were HUNGRY. It was about 5:30pm....dinner time!

By some miracle, we found SHADE! There were about three open tables for our group, and we all split up to get the food we were craving and met back up to eat dinner together.

Morael, Melina and Kat made a game plan for what food they would get. They came back with fries and nachos.

You can't go wrong with fries...or flaming hot cheeto CORN.

Kat got an entire cone of fries, Paul and Nick got turkey legs and Manny got a refreshing mango chili drink.

Stacie, Ant and their girls shared a GIANT corndog.

As we were wrapping up eating, we ran into Jade, Andrew, DJ and Cristabel. They are our church friends and had been there ALL day. Troopers!

Manny, Darline and Kat decided to become kittens!

Once our bellies were full, it was off to try our hand at some games. The water game was our most successful, well, where we lost the LEAST amount of money.

The spectators checking out if anyone won a prize. They were also scoping out a roller coaster or spin ride to try.

The 'shoot a hoop' game was our least successful attempts. Good try, JB. But in the end, Darrin was able to make ONE basket and win a giant dog for his niece Tayah. Russ and Kacie were all smiles and happy to see the kiddos get prizes.

And then it was ICE CREAM time. MMMM. One cool thing that happened, is the owners of the ice cream booth were Christians. They were promoting the Harvest Crusade led by Pastor Greg Laurie, that is coming up on August 17-19. And the soft serve was THE BOMB.

By 7pm, the weather had cooled a bit and it was PERFECT outside. Even little Harley thought so.

We paused a few spots as different groups of folks went on rides and got snacks. I missed the picture of someone getting a fried cheesecake. But I did snap a pic of Nick trying his first funnel cake. He said it was very delicious.

To wrap up the night, Anthony and Stacie paid $2 to visit the butterfly exhibit.

Cinthia and Harley went in too and loved it!

By 10 pm, our feet were sore, we smelled like bbq smoke, our wallets were empty and our bellies were full. We had a great night! We hopped onto the shuttle back to our cars and headed home. What a fun time.

Recap: August 10th

It was a beautiful Friday night. We arrived at church expectant for God to be glorified and for Him to move in our lives.

At the side entrance of the church off of Knox street, is the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) where we meet every week.

IMG_7234.jpg

To start the night, the worship team had a sound check and then Adrienne shared a word of encouragement from the Bible.

By 8pm T was on stage, sharing part six of our Grown Up series, based on the book of James, chapter 3.

We closed the night with a powerful time of worship, even singing I love You Lord in acapella.

IMG_7251.jpg

For the last 30 minutes of the night, everyone hangs out and grubs!

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE @ THE BRIDGE — "Wise Up"

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy."
James 3:17 NKJV

Knowledge is the accumulation of facts, stats, and details. Wisdom is being able to use that knowledge and put it into action. But there is a difference between man-made wisdom that comes from below, versus the Godly wisdom that comes from above! Join us tonight at 7:30PM, in the Multi-Purpose Room, as we continue our series in the book of James called, "Grown Up." We'll be looking in the Bible at how we can grow to be mature believers in the faith.

Recap: August 3rd

We really enjoyed ourselves Friday at church! Cinthia, her daughter Harley and hubby Justin manned the welcome table and greeted everyone that arrived.

IMG_6727.jpg

Our friend Jared made delicious enchiladas and chocolate cake, to fuel us before the meeting.

IMG_6728.jpg

Christine, Sarah and Naoki led us into a beautiful time of worshipping God.

IMG_6729.jpg

Then it was time to turn around and say hello to someone near you. This gives us a chance to make new friends and make a welcoming environment for everyone. A smile can go a long way!

Arlen welcomed everyone and gave our announcements for the night, including upcoming events.

And then we had a Bridge member, Venita come up to the stage, to share about her recent Mission trip to Mexico. She went with a team from church to share the hope and love of Jesus. She encouraged everyone to seek out God's will for your life and if He is nudging you to step out in faith, to go and do it!

Next, T went up and shared the sixth message in the Grown Up series, "Taming The Tongue."
