Recap: Guest Speaker Oct 19th

Friday night our team set up sound and the multi purpose room (MPR) for a great night. We were excited for what God had in store for us that night.

As people came in they were welcomed by our friendly welcome team. Let us know if you’d like to be a part of the welcome committee.

We had hot chicken soup to satisfy the savory cravings and then sweets for that sweet tooth, of course.

Our worship team did a really fantastic job!

Emily, Danny, Chloe and Nina brought us into God’s presence and led us to a place where we could set aside the distractions of our day/week.

Stacie came up and did announcements, including ladies small groups which is this Tues night at her house.

She also encouraged everyone to say hi to the people next to them and ask, “are you more of a fall season person or a summer season person?”

And then we had Pastor Brandon Gill of CCSB share a message from Matthew chapter 6. He spoke on anxiety and here are a few take aways:

  • God is not saying we can’t have the things we need, but it is a matter of prioritizing Him

  • Our feelings are valid, but they don’t justify our actions

  • Our anxiety and fears are less of a circumstance issue and more an issue of worship

  • Maybe we care way too much about something, because when what we value is being threatened, it causes us to be anxious

  • Seek first God’s kingdom (Matt 6:33)

  • We are called to trust God and re-priorities where we place our time, energy, thoughts and finances

It was a great night! Thanks to Pastor Brandon who came out and shared God’s Word in a relatable and truthful way. You can find Pastor Brandon teaching the HS students on Sunday mornings at our church. His Dad is also our main Pastor - Jeff Gill!

See you next week where we’ll be starting a four part relationship series you don’t want to miss!

P.S. Also, we have T, Arlen, Christine and Jess (all Bridge leaders) serving in the Philippines this week. Please keep them in prayer as they minister to the people there. They return Wednesday night October, 24th.

Do you have a heart to pray? Would you consider yourself a prayer warrior? Jesus tells His disciples the significance of "coming away" from the busyness of life, and we'd do well to do the same! Join us tonight, October 15th @ 7:30PM at Mark and Noella’s place to pray for the needs of those in the ministry as well as our community and beyond. Please see the Rizkallas for more information!

Recap: October 12th

Friday night it was cold and wet out, but the rain didn’t stop us from gathering for a great meeting in the MPR (multi-purpose room). We set up just before 7pm, and got our welcome table ready.

The worship team was Jess R., Chloe, Danny, Emily and Tam and they prepared a lovely set of songs to praise and honor God. The screen was also reminding us of GALS’ small groups coming up on Tuesday, October 23rd at Stacie’s house!

Just after announcements and meet and greet time, Stacie came up to pray over a team that is leaving for the Philippines on a mission trip on Tuesday, October 16th. The team includes her husband T, Arlen, Jessica and Christine along with four other church members.

The team will be hosting a youth leaders conference in the Philippines as well as serving the local church there in many different ways and sharing the love of Jesus with the people in a few cities there. They will be gone for one week - please keep them in prayer.

For the night’s message, T shared his second message in the “Down and Out” series, this time addressing anxiety.

He shared that ONLY GOD can provide the hope needed to rescue a weary soul.

We closed the night with a beautiful worship set and a time of prayer.

At the end of the night we grubbed on some cake - made by Cinthia, for Briea’s birthday.

There was no shortage of food to fill our bellies and keep us warm!

We hope to see each of you next Friday as we meet again at 7:30pm in the MPR.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE @ THE BRIDGE — "Apprehending Anxiety"

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or what you will drink;
nor about your body, what you will put on.
Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?"
Matthew 6:25 NKJV

Following Jesus doesn't mean that we won't sometimes experience worry or anxiety. When an anxious thought comes into our minds, the Bible encourages us to surrender it to Christ, and to cast our cares and our burdens upon Jesus. Anxiety attacks aren't always a result of sin, but they can certainly paralyze a person and make them feel helpless. Jesus tells us not to worry, and to trust that our Heavenly Father knows all that we have need of! Join us tonight at 7:30PM in the Multi-Purpose Room, as we continue our series called "Down & Out." Bring your Bible, and invite a friend who doesn't yet know Jesus!

If you desire to build godly friendships, have accountability, and want to dig deeper in God's Word in a more intimate setting, come and join us! We're continuing through a book/DVD series called Crazy Love by Francis Chan, and we're learning just how radical God's love is for us and how we ought to respond. If you have the book, we'll be jumping into chapter 9! The guys' group will be meeting tonight, October 9th @ 7:30PM, at Mark's place.
