FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE @ THE BRIDGE — "Tackling Temptation"

“Let no one say when he is tempted, 'I am being tempted by God,' for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one."
James 1:13 ESV

Temptation isn't sin, but it's when we give into those selfish desires and take the "bait," that we find ourselves going down a path that God never intended for us. The enemy uses temptations to shame us, whereas God will allow trials (and temptations) as a means to get the best out of us. Join us tonight, 7:30pm in the MPR, as we continue a new series in the book of James called, "Grown Up." We'll be looking in the Bible at how we can grow to be mature believers in the faith.

Friday Recap: June 8th

Friday night we temporarily relocated to the Overflow room (by the church bookstore) due to an event being held in the MPR.

It was a nice spot for us and we had a great night with worship, food and a message by T about overcoming trials. We started a new series out of the book of James called "Grown Up" that will take us through learning how to be a mature believer.

Looking forward to seeing you for part II of the series on Friday night back in the MPR room.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE @ THE BRIDGE — "Overcoming Trials"

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials..."
James 1:2 NKJV

Everyone grows old, but not everyone grows up. God's goal for us is that we would become mature in our faith. The way He can bring out maturity from us, is by allowing us to endure trials and testing. Join us tonight, 7:30PM in the Overflow Room, as we begin a new series in the book of James called, "Grown Up." We'll be looking in the Bible at how we can grow to be mature believers in the faith.

Recap: June 1st + Hike

Friday night we had an awesome time at The Bridge. Arlen and Teayah opened us with a great worship set and Tai gave a word of encouragement from 2 Corinthians 1:3-4:

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."

We had Adrienne and Christine come up to share announcements, including our hike that was the following morning (pics at the end of this post).

And then T came up to share his close out message on The Sweet Life series (other messages on the media page), all about SELF-CONTROL.

The message was convicting and honest, I'd challenge you to listen to it from our blog!

After the message we always close out the night by grubbing on a delicious spread of food. This night it was stuffed bell pepper soup, veggies, fruit tarts, lentil soup, noodles, and kimchi fried rice. Everything was yummy!

Saturday morning, we met at 8am near the Trump Golf Course in Palos Verdes.

The hike was 2 hours round trip and the weather was PERFECT: sunny, with a cool breeze.

It took us about 30 minutes to get down to the shore, as we took the paved trail road to the water. It was pretty empty!

We sang a few worship songs and then Arlen gave a great devotional to challenge our hearts to seek more of God.

After the devotional, we got into groups and prayed for each other. And built rock pits!

We decided to push ourselves and take the steep path back to the road. It was a workout for sure!

Group shot: 1, 2, 3....JESUS!

To reward ourselves for a great hike and to fellowship together, we went to Yellow Vase.

We got some delicious foods including omelets, sausage, croissant sandwiches, eggs and poke bowls!

Hope you can join us this Friday night, June 8th and we hear a new message from God's Word.

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
There is no law against these things!”

Galatians 5:22-23 NLT

Would you say that you're an impulsive person? Do you find that you lack self-control when it comes to things like food, fitness, or even relationships or addictions? By the Holy Spirit's power, we have the ability to exhibit self-control in our lives. Join us tonight at 7:30PM in the Multi-Purpose Room, as we finish our series on the fruit of the Spirit, "The Sweet Life." We'll be looking at how the Holy Spirit produces in us the ability to demonstrate self-control in our world today. Bring your Bible, and invite a friend, and we look forward to seeing you there!
