“ This saying is trustworthy: ‘If anyone aspires to be an overseer, he desires a noble work.’” - 1 Timothy 3:1 (CSB)
We had a sweet time of worship from Arlen, Emily, + JB and after they were done Stacie gave us our announcements for the night.
This week we studied 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and T left us with three main points:
it is good to lead (v1): A leader, or a bishop, is an honorable position. The position of a “bishop” is to be an overseer.
Be the person others will follow (2a): Leaders don’t always hold a title, but they have influence. The qualifications for leadership aren’t about skillset or giftedness. God often uses the unexpected or “least qualified” person in the eyes of man.
One must adhere to the list (v2b-7): blameless, one woman man, temperate, sober minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous, rules his own house well, not a novice, and a good testimony.
I know it looks like a lot but I encourage you to keep an eye out on the media tab for when this message is posted because T really breaks down these verses and helps us to understand them better.
After T taught, we had some time for fellowship! We hope you’ll join us on a Friday soon!
