but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

Recap: "Final Instructions Pt. 2"

“ Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us all things to enjoy” - 1 Timothy 6:17 (CSB)

Emily, Daisy, Darline + JB did such a good job with leading worship on Friday!

Stacie (+ baby Peter) gave us our word of encouragement Friday. She talked about feeling alone or afraid and reminded us to combat these feelings with promises found in the Bible.

“Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For the lord your God is the one who will go with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. “ - Deuteronomy 31:6 (CSB)

“The Lord is the one who will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged” - Deuteronomy 31:8 (CSB)

Then Mark followed her with announcements. NOTE: CCSB + The Cornerstone Bookstore will be closed for Labor Day (Monday, September 2).

T finished our study of 1 Timothy and left us with three things to think about:

  1. Everything belongs to Him (v17): Everything we have is on loan to us, not just our material wealth — it all belongs to Him.

  2. Sharing is caring (v18-19): Those who have much should be wise in how they spend it. Paul says the rich should use their money to do good, so they might be rich in good works, being generous to those in need.

  3. Put your guard up(v20-21): Timothy was commanded by Paul to guard what God had entrusted him with — the Gospel, and the platform to preach and teach.

Any guesses as to what book we are studying next?

I’ll give you a hint, it comes right after 1 Timothy.

See you next week!

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE @ THE BRIDGE — "Final Instructions Pt. 2"

"Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life."
1 Timothy 6:18-19 NKJV

What do you do with what you have, especially if you have an abundance of it? God has given us all our time, talents, and our treasure, on loan and we're to be good stewards with all three. The Apostle Paul concludes his 1 letter to Timothy by giving him a command for those who are rich, and also gives personal instructions for Timothy to guard the faith and all that has been entrusted to him. Join us tonight 7:30PM, in the Overflow Room, as we finish our series through 1 Timothy. Bring your Bible, a journal, and invite a friend! We can't wait to see you there!

Recap: "Final Instructions Pt.1"

“But you, man of God, flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.” - 1 Timothy 6:11 (CSB)

Worship was amazing Friday!

Arlen gave us our word of encouragement and he was followed by Adrienne + Emily for announcements.

We’re almost to the end of our study in 1 Timothy. T taught from 1 Timothy 6: 11-16 and left us with four things to think about:

  • Live Differently — Flee + Follow (v11): Paul reminded Timothy that he was God’s man and he should live as such. Timothy was to flee from the false teachers and was encouraged to follow what pleases God — righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.

  • Fight The Good Fight — Cling + Contend (v12-13): Paul commanded Timothy “to lay hold on eternal life” clinging to the promise of salvation. Timothy was to be encouraged by knowing that Jesus didn’t shy away from testifying to Pontius Pilate therefore he could also contend for the faith.

  • Don’t Waiver — Obey + Wait (v14-15): Paul pointed Timothy to two things — to obey this command without fault and to wait for the appearing of the Lord Jesus Chris.

  • This Is God — Immortal + Unapproachable (v16): God alone has immortality — he wasn't born but has simply existed before time began and in Him is life.

See you next Friday!
